Customer Reviews

"Easily the best ribs I've ever had. Fall off the bone tenderness and nice Smokey flavor. And idk what sauce they use but it's perfect. The vibe here is really cool too. Hole in the wall vibe. Be warned though it's cash only and to go orders only. I will absolutely be back 10/10"

"It is a truth universally acknowledged in the gastronomical world that it's the quaint, unassuming "hole in the wall" eateries with a long line of patrons out front that usually have some of the best food that you will ever put in your mouth. Randy's BBQ is certainly no exception! Located in a humble blue and white building on Wheaton St., there are no tables or seating and more often than not, a line stretching down the sidewalk. You walk up, someone will lean out of the door and ask you your order, then you walk up to the window, pay and pick up your food to go. It's worth noting that Randy's is a cash-only establishment but they do have an ATM on-site. I decided to go small and ordered a $5 rib plate (yes, they actually have $5 rib plates!) to get a glimpse of what the fuss is about. My order was loaded with 4 meaty and tender smoked ribs and two thick slices of bread. The orange barbecue sauce was divine, with a slight undertone of mustard perhaps. It was different but after a bite or two, I was hooked! The ribs were smoky, saucy perfection. They do not have a large selection of foods to choose from: just chicken, ribs and crab but it is another truth acknowledged that if you're only going to serve 2 or 3 items on your menu, then you'd better cook them right... and Randy's cooks them right! If visiting, be sure to get there early as they often sell out and close down before mid-afternoon. Randy's also offers chicken, crab, and cake and make no mistake, I will be back soon to try everything else they have to offer!"

"As we were driving down the road we saw a light stream of smoke and suddenly the steering wheel of my truck automatically turned into the parking lot. I knew at this moment I was in the right place! Excellent food, this is my type of place!"

"Been visiting Savannah for years and finally got the chance to try this place. I highly recommend stop here. The chicken and ribs are fantastic the sauce is also very good but not needed and I am a big sauce person. "

"It's off the beaten path and no frills about it (there are no sides sold), but it will be some of the best BBQ you've ever had. Oh those ribs! We got there early, jumped in line and ordered like we knew what we were doing. (Reminiscent of Pat's in Philly or Katz's in NYC you'll quickly see who the locals are that know how to order ). The ribs alone ("sauce on the side" we found out is preferred) were so flavorful. We got a full rack and ate almost every one. Wish this place was closer to home."

"Today is October 10. I went for the first time to Randy's BBQ. It the first time that I had some great BBQ ribs, juicy and great taste and the price reasonable. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone."

Why Visit

Visiting Randy's is less about the meal and more about the experience. Arriving early is essential, especially on weekends when they are often sold out by afternoon. Waiting in line builds anticipation, a rite of passage for any BBQ fan in Savannah.

Make sure to try the ribs—smoked to perfection and fall-off-the-bone tender. The house-made orange barbecue sauce enhances the flavors, providing a perfect balance with its hint of mustard. It’s a unique twist that sets their BBQ apart.

While Randy's forces diners into the takeout scene, this adds to its allure. The experience is straightforward: order your food from the window, and savor it wherever you choose. This makes each visit a fun adventure, whether it's a solo lunch or a casual dinner with friends.

Make sure to try the crab special on offer; it's not your average crab dish, bringing a spicy kick that locals love. Grab a few rib plates for sharing, and maybe bring a drink or two to elevate your meal.

Most Disliked things

Some patrons mention missing side dishes; the focus on meat means no traditional BBQ sides. It may disappoint those expecting a full dining experience. Hence, be prepped to order solely from the limited but well-executed menu.

The cash-only policy can catch first-timers off guard. While there is an ATM, some prefer the ease of credit card payments, especially when hungry and ready to eat.
